Air Conditioning Filters – Functionality, Capacity, Price and Maintenance
With everything we hear about air pollution sometimes our own homes don’t even seem safe anymore. Allergens, air pollution, and the rising levels of toxic gases in the environment seem to be around us and it seems that our homes aren’t an entirely safe place to escape. Of course some of these are pretty big issues that we can’t completely control on our own, but we can do something about the air in our homes. We can at least keep the air in our homes cleaner, so that our families can enjoy the benefits of the cleaner air. Air conditioning filters can help with this
The air conditioning system that we use to control the home temperature has an air filter. This air conditioner filter not only keeps the cooling coil clean but it can also keep the house free from various pollutants; the pollutants that can be harmful for us and our families, especially those that are more sensitive to allergens and other pollutants.
Knowing how important your air conditioning filter can be it is good to know more about the type of filters you can buy for your air conditioning system. Having the right filter can have an impact on the health of everyone in the home. Some people don’t seem to be as sensitive to the pollutants in the home, but for those who are sensitive having a good air filter can make quite a difference and improve their quality of life. Not feeling well or having bad allergies can have an impact on our quality of life so anything that can be done to help will make a big difference.
Three common air conditioning filters are a standard air filter, a pleated air filter and an electrostatic air filter. When talking about functionality the standard one has the capacity of taking care of 10% of the unwanted particles in a given room. Whereas the pleated air filter is good for 35-40% of the pollutants and the electrostatic filters leads the game. The electrostatic filters have the best capacity among the others mentioned here.
As far as pricing the standard one is the least expensive but it has to be changed more often, about once a month. The pleated filter is fairly inexpensive as well; it costs a little more than the standard filter but it only needs to be changed once every two to four months. Electrostatic filters are the most expensive, quite a bit more than the other two, but they only need to be changed about once a year.
Using a good air filter can be an important part of your overall health. Even if you don’t think you’re sensitive to the pollutants in your home they may still be having an affect on your health. Not only can they make you feel better but they can keep the dust under control. Not having to dust as often is a nice side benefit.
